Rice: Stanford offensive assistant Joe Ashfield will be the new offensive line coach at Rice source tells FootballScoop. Ashfield has worked with Mike Bloomgren at Stanford since 2013. In 2004 Ashfield served as the head coach of the New Zealand National team.

Oregon: Safeties coach Keith Heyward and wide receivers coach Michael Johnson have signed contract extensions through the 2019 season, the program has announced. Heyward will earn $450,000 a year, a $75,000 raise, while Johnson will net a $60,000 bump to $335,000, according to contract details obtained by The Oregonian. Additionally, sources tell FootballScoop that assistant AD for football recruiting operations David Kelly will join Willie Taggart's staff at Florida State. Update> Source tells FootballScoop right now it is "50/50" whether Kelly accepts Taggart's offer or remains at Oregon. Will update once things are finalized.

Luther (D-III - IA): Caleb Padilla, who has served as defensive coordinator the last three seasons, has been promoted to head coach. Prior to joining the staff, Padilla coached at Notre Dame College (D-II - OH), Albion (D-III - MI) and Colorado School of Mines (D-II).

New York Giants: The Giants are naming former Panthers GM Dave Gettleman to the same spot, tweets CBS's Jason La CanforaUpdate:The team has announced the hire.

Boise State: According toThe Idaho Statesman, come January 10th, Bryan Harsin's buyout on his rolling 5-year contract (that automatically extends a year every time the Broncos hit eight wins) ends, meaning that Harsin is free to leave without paying the school a buyout. His original 5-year deal he signed back in 2014 included a buyout that began at $2 million and gradually decreased, eventually phasing out after four years.

Allegheny (D-III - PA): Allegheny is no longer accepting applicants for their vacant defensive assistant coaching position. Thanks for the tremendous amount of interest.

Texas A&M: Asked today when he's going to name his defensive coordinator, Jimbo Fisher said, "When the time is right. We've got plenty of time. That's one thing about this dead period, you have no rush to do things. You've got all the way to the 12th to do something because you can't get back on the road."

Tennessee: Multiple reports state Florida State defensive coordinator Charles Kelly will join Jeremy Pruitt's staff at Tennessee. Kelly had been offered the Colorado State defensive coordinator position our sources add.

ESPN: ESPN has released its lineup for the CFP Coaches' Film Room, which will air during the semifinals for the first time ever.

Luther (D-III - IA): Head coach Aaron Hafner has resigned after leading the team to their best record in over a decade, a 6-4 finish last year. Hafner was 20-30 overall in five seasons and is moving to Kansas for an opportunity to be closer to family.

Bowl games: Today's bowl slate -- Military Bowl, Virginia vs. Navy (1:30 p.m. ET on ESPN); Camping World Bowl, Virginia Tech vs. Oklahoma State (5:15 p.m. ET on ESPN); Alamo Bowl, Stanford vs. TCU (9 p.m. ET, ESPN); Holiday Bowl, Michigan State vs. Washington State (9 p.m. ET, FS1).

Indiana Wesleyan (NAIA): Indiana Wesleyan University is seeking a restricted earnings Wide Receivers coach. The position will include a stipend based on experience, in addition to free housing. Florida A&M: Source tells FootballScoop former Alabama A&M head coach James Spady will join Willie Simmons' staff at Florida A&M. Although we hear Spady will have the associate head coach title, actual coaching role seems on hold pending finalization of staff hires. Before taking over at Alabama A&M (2014-17), Spady coached offensive line or tight ends at South Carolina State, North Carolina Central, Grambling and Nevada.

Georgia: Kirby Smart's nine on the field assistants have already earned $731k in bonuses by advancing to the playoff reports Marc Weiszer who covers the Bulldogs. Advancing to the Natty would up that number to $877k and winning it would push them to $1.17 million. As for Kirby himself, he's at $1.050 million now and can earn up to $1.75 million total in bonuses should they win the Natty.

Northwestern: Pat Fitzgerald says that unless offensive coordinator Mick McCall leaves for another job, he will return for an 11th season as Northwestern's offensive coordinator, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Portland State (FCS - OR): Payam Saadat has been hired as defensive coordinator, according to the Portland Tribune. Saadat coached the defensive line at Cal Poly (FCS) the past two seasons, and has also called the defense at Army and Central Washington (FCS).

Purdue: While Jeff Brohm didn't collect any additional money for their Foster Farms Bowl victory over Arizona last night, he is getting $112,500 for appearing in the game, per a tweet from Steve Berkowitz.

Texas: Tom Herman picked up a $50,000 bonus for their Texas Bowl win over Missouri, per a tweet from Steve Berkowitz. The assistant coaches each pick up $10,000 as well for getting to seven-wins on the year, per Berkowitz.
