Slippery Rock (D-II - PA): Billy Fessler, a former Nittany Lion quarterback who has been helping out the program as a coach before he graduates this semester, will be joining the Slippery Rock staff, James Franklin recently shared with reporters.
Bruce Fowler: Fowler, the former defensive coordinator at Vanderbilt and former head coach at Furman (FCS - SC), has been named the new head coach and athletic director at Lakeway Christian Academy (Morristown, TN). The team will start competition this fall.
Cal Poly (FCS): James Jones (DL), Matt Ta'ufo'ou (OLBs), and Kenneth McMillan (fullbacks) have officially joined the staff. Jones was the associate head coach / defensive coordinator at Northern Colorado the past two seasons, Ta'ufo'ou worked as a sales rep for bank operations the last five years and prior to that played linebacker at Iowa State, and McMillan was the video coordinator for the program the past five years.
Virginia: Outside linebackers coach Kelly Poppinga has been named co-defensive coordinator, Bronco Mendenhall has announced. Poppinga has been at UVA for three seasons and spent the last two years as special teams coordinator for the program. Mendenhall hired Ricky Brumfield earlier this year to take over special teams duties with the 10th assistant hire
Ohio State: Ohio State has now announced Urban's contract extension. Under contract through the 2022 season now, Urban will now make $7.6 million for the 2018 season, making him the highest paid coach in the B1G and third highest paid nationally (per 11W) (behind Dabo & Nick).
ACC Title Game: The ACC championship game will remain in Charlotte through 2030.
Robert Morris (NAIA - Chicago, IL): Robert Morris University Illinois is looking for multiple graduate assistant coaches. Both offensive and defensive positions are available. Compensation will include full coverage of graduate school tuition and a $5,000 stipend. Applicants must have a minimum of a 2.8 cumulative undergraduate GPA. Fairleigh Dickinson (D-III - NJ): Fairleigh Dickinson has an opening for an intern assistant coach position from August until May. Compensation will be $7,000 and nine credits toward a Master’s degree. Many opportunities for professional development will be covered and there will be money available for the NCAA Convention. There are also opportunities to earn money out of season on campus. There is no housing, meals or benefits included. Responsibilities include but are not limited to coaching your own position, recruiting your own area (all expenses covered), academic monitoring, video, strength and conditioning and assisting the head coach in all phases of the program. Boston College: Secondary coachAnthony Campanile has been promoted to co-defensive coordinator, and offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Scot Loeffler has been elevated to deputy head coach, Steve Addazio recently announced.
Northern Arizona (FCS): Bruce Read has been named special teams coach for the Lumberjacks. Read spent last season as the special teams coordinator for the Montral Alouettes (CFL) and prior to that was the special teams coordinator at Nebraska. He also has prior stops at Oregon State and Montana (FCS) as well as in the NFL with the Cowboys, Giants, and Chargers.
Chattanooga (FCS - TN): Per source, Minnesota offensive quality control coach Greg Harbaugh Jr. has accepted the wide receivers job at Tennessee Chattanooga.
Isolation Tags for RBs in the Pass Game: Any time an offense can get it’s A-back matched up on a linebacker or safety it’s a win. While Fort Hays State University (KS) has several of these in its offensive menu, the most productive one has been a Spacing route with a RB wheel complement. Over the last three seasons, this concept has yielded a completion rate of over 70% with 10 TDs and 0 interceptions. Valdosta State (D-II - GA): Valdosta State University has an immediate opening for a special teams analyst position. This is a VOLUNTEER position; is UNPAID. Housing may be available. Position duties include: working with specialist group during practice, running scout special teams units, charting kicking, special teams install/scouting reports, assistance with summer camps, and any other duties assigned by the head coach. Ideal candidates are adept in Microsoft Excel, Visio, and Power Point. Also, candidates should have familiarity with DVsport and Dudl. Experience working with specialists is a plus.
