Packaging A/B Gap Split Zones to Divide Bear and Odd Fronts: When New England Patriots FB James Develin trapped Rams Nose Nadomincan Suh for a 13-yard gain to open the Super Bowl, it wasn’t just a tempo setter. It cemented an ageless offensive maxim, trap upfield first-level defenders to slow them down. Monmouth University (NJ) is using the same philosophy by tagging A/B gap divide zone runs at the line of scrimmage. In an exclusive clinic report with X&O Labs, Run Game Coordinator/OL Coach Brian Gabriel details how his A and B gap divides yielded 7.6 yards per carry against Bear and Odd fronts this season.
