Beloved coach Charlie Rizzo died Friday at his home in Daytona Beach, FL after a seven year battle with cancer. He is missed & loved by many. Please keep coach Rizzo and his family in your prayers. Services will be held Saturday June 10th at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Daytona Beach. Coach Rizzo improved the lives of young men at Rice, TCU, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Wake Forest, The Citadel, West Point, with the Tampa Bay Bandits and with several other programs.
Auburn: Former Cincinnati defensive tackles coach Kenny Ingram is expected to rejoin Gus Malzahn's staff reports Brandon Marcello. Ingram previously worked with Gus at both Auburn & Arkansas State. Marcello reports Ingram is expected to fill an off the field position.
Michigan State: After meeting with AD Mark Hollis and Mark Dantonio earlier today following the release of the Jones Day investigation into the football program and athletic department, the Michigan State Board of Trustees has issued a statement saying that they "have the utmost confidence" in Dantonio and Hollis. Glenville State (D-II - WV): Glenville State College is seeking applicants for 2 Quality Control Assistants (1 Offensive/1 Defensive). This position will help with administrative work, assisting in preparation of game planning material and opponent film breakdown. Both positions will have the opportunity to assist in meetings and on the field with a position group which will be determined by the Head coach based on applicant. The position is unpaid, however free housing is available. West Hills College (JC - CA): West Hills College is looking to hire (2) part time assistant football coaches, (DL and OL). Albion (D-III - MI): The Albion College Department of Athletics invites applications for the position of part-time assistant football coach (Either Offensive Line or Wide Receivers - will take best candidate). This is a 5-6 month part time position with employment beginning August 1, 2017. This is a stipend position ($3500 for season plus $1500 for Spring Practice). There is no housing or meals included. Albion College offers 21 intercollegiate sports as a NCAA Division III liberal arts institution and a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. This position will be responsible for supporting the Head Coach in coaching Albion College’s junior varsity and varsity football teams. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: a)create and implement practice and game plans, b)breakdown film and provide scouting reports, c)maintain working knowledge of NCAA, MIAA, and Albion College policies and procedures, d) provide instruction to student-athletes through practice or film review e)other duties as assigned by the Head Coach. Qualifications Include: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in collegiate athletics as a coach, player, or student manager. Must have a valid, or be eligible to obtain, a Michigan driver’s license. NY Giants: Per source, Arkansas Pine Bluff (FCS) offensive line coach Damon Nivens is working with the Giants during training camp as a part of the Bill Walsh Minority Fellowship Program.
Methodist (D-III - NC): Methodist University is accepting applications for multiple part-time football coaches. Positions will run from July 24th 2017 until April 27th, 2018. A Bachelor’s degree is required and compensation is a stipend of $16,000 with no housing or benefits. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coaching your own JV position, helping coach a Varsity position, recruiting, academic support, video, equipment control and assisting the Head Coach in all phases of the program. Preferred coaching positions and experiences include, Wide Receivers, Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Linebackers or Defensive Backs. Also anyone with a Graphic Design, Social Media or IT background or experience will be strongly considered. LA Rams: Virginia Union (D-II) head coach Mark James has accepted a Bill Walsh minority Fellowship position with the LA Rams.
Georgia: Fernando Velasco, a former Bulldog and NFL offensive lineman, has joined the program as a player relations coordinator.
Auburn: Gus Malzahn noted over the weekend that he expects to name a new director of football operations in the next 10 days.
