The NFL has been at the forefront of some divisive issues the past few seasons, most notably the national anthem debate.
Today, Pete Carroll - who has never been one to shy away from the platform that coaching has provided for him - stepped forward with a passionate letter detailing how America needs to find a "New Empathy," as he calls it.
Carroll starts off by explaining that while being distracted by our screens, many of us may be unaware of the social and interracial development taking place right in front of us. He goes on to talk vaguely about the directions that "our leaders" have led us, and the reality of our current world before saying that it is all an opportunity to create "A New Empathy".

While there's no direct naming of people, it doesn't take a master de-coder to fill in the blanks on what coach Carroll is talking about here, and stand where you may on the issue, but you have to respect the initiative that Carroll took in this call to arms of sorts.
For him to sit down and hammer this out while in the midst of OTA's with his team tells should tell you how strongly he feels about it.
