In a move that is simply stunning for a number of reasons, Jay Paterno was named to Penn State's Board of Trustees on Friday.
Paterno announced the news in a statement on his Twitter account.
The election gives Paterno the power to, among other things, approve the hiring and firing of the Nittany Lions' head football coach.
While he will be one of just 30 active members on the board, Paterno's election further illustrates how ingrained the Paterno legacy is into Penn State's culture, where some in blue and white can't imagine the university without a Paterno in charge.
