Former Buffs head coach Mike MacIntyre and Colorado agree to settlement (Colorado)

Former Buffs head coach Mike MacIntyre and Colorado have agreed to a buyout of $7.238 million to close out his contract. Colorado fired MacIntyre without cause back in mid-November.

According to a piece by the Denver Post done about a week after MacIntyre's dismissal, his buyout would have been offset if he were to land a job in the NFL, or as a college head coach.

The settlement on the contract will save the school about $3 million, as he was originally set to collect just over $10 million. BuffZone shares that MacIntyre will get two lump sum payments. The first will be for just over $3.5 million by no later Monday, and the second is for just under $3.7 million due by January 20th of 2020.

BuffZone shared the following statement from Colorado spokesman Ryan Huff:

"Through mediation, we have come to an agreement with coach MacIntyre on what we will pay him to fulfill the remaining obligations of his contract. Each party had differing views on how much was owed based on various clauses of the contract. We are satisfied to come to this resolution so that CU and coach MacIntyre can move on. We thank coach MacIntyre for his six years of service to CU and wish him every success in his coaching career."

MacIntyre, who went 30-44 in his six seasons in Boulder, landed on his feet as the new defensive coordinator for Matt Luke at Ole Miss.
