Everett Withers has been fired at Texas State, sources told FootballScoop on Sunday.
Withers will not coach Texas State's season finale against Arkansas State, sources indicated.
The news comes as the Bobcats lost 12-7 to Troy on Saturday, dropping the club to 3-8 on the season and 7-28 under Withers. Texas State was just 2-21 in Sun Belt play under Withers' direction.
Texas State hired Withers after he posted an 18-7 mark in two seasons as the head coach at James Madison. He was part of Urban Meyer's original Ohio State staff as assistant head coach/co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach before taking the JMU job, and prior to that went 7-6 in one season as the interim head coach at North Carolina.
As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
Update: The University has now announced the move.
