As the #1 seed in the College Football Playoff with a January 1 matchup against Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide, Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines can hardly afford any distractions.
Harbaugh reportedly has a contract on the table that would make him among the highest paid coaches in college football. However, it comes with a catch - he can't take an NFL job prior to 2024.
That contract has not been signed, leading to all sorts of speculation as the NFL interview cycle is set to ramp up, one notable opening being in LA with the Chargers.
As we've shared before. It would have taken very little effort for Harbaugh to sign it a week ago, a month ago, or even yesterday.
Yet it remains without his signature.
As the Wolverines arrived in Los Angeles for the Rose Bowl, Harbaugh sat down in front of cameras for the first time in a while and was hit with a few questions about NFL rumors.
What he chose not to say when given the opportunity says a lot more than what he ultimately did say, which really amounted to some generalities about having a "one-track mind."
He did not say "I will be the head coach at Michigan next fall," or any version of that which would have sent the Wolverine fan base into pandemonium.
When asked directly about the opening with the Chargers, he opted for the same mentions of attacking each day with a one track mind.
Hear his responses for yourself in the clip.
