The XFL puts a coordinator on injured reserve (bobby blizzard)

A broken leg did not stop Hal Mumme from continuing to call plays during the XFL's Dallas Renegades game last week, but it will not allow him to continue in that role moving forward.

"I'm not soft," Mumme tweeted after he was knocked to the ground in a sideline collision during Dallas' loss to the Houston Roughnecks.

Mumme moved to the press box for the team's 30-12 loss to the New York Guardians on Saturday, but the club announced Monday that Mumme will effectively go on injured reserve for the remainder of the season and Jeff Jagodzinski will step in as offensive coordinator.

“We appreciate Hal’s hard work and efforts with our squad, particularly after his injury last weekend,” Renegades head coach Bob Stoops said. “Unfortunately, it prevented him from performing in the way we needed for the Renegades.”

Running backs coach Bobby Blizzard will add an assistant offensive coordinator title and play-calling duties, but Jagodzinski will get the OC title while continuing as the club's offensive line coach. Mumme will remain on staff as an offensive advisor.

The Renegades (2-3) visit the DC Defenders on Sunday and close the regular season on Thursday, April 9.
