Philip Haywood, Kentucky's all-time winningest high school football coach, has passed away at age 73 after suffering injuries in an auto accident. Haywood had a record of 491-160 in 50 seasons as a head coach and was an 8-time state champion. Please join us in praying for Coach Haywood's family, friends and community.

Jim Knowles: Fresh off a national title, Jim Knowles is now being pursued by multiple national powers, sources tell FootballScoop.

Liam Coen: In an interesting note, Albert Breer shares that the Bucs offered a 3-year deal to Coen on Monday to make him the highest paid coordinator in NFL history but it was contingent on him not taking a second interview with the Jaguars. Multiple reports share Coen has been in Jacksonville most of the day today on that second visit.

Washington State: Idaho State (FCS) special teams coordinator / inside receivers coach Nick Alaimalo is joining the staff as assistant receivers coach, per source.

Jacksonville Jaguars: In a rather surprising pivot over the past 24 hours, Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen has been speaking in-person with the Jags about their head coaching job (per multiple reports) and again is a key candidate for the opening. This comes just a day after agreeing to a massive extension in Tampa Bay set to make him among the NFL's highest compensated coordinators. 

Prairie View A&M (FCS): Clifford Fedd has been announced as the team's new running backs coach.

New England Patriots: Giants defensive assistant Zak Kuhr, a former offensive coordinator for Texas State, has accepted a job with the Patriots, per Ryan Dunleavy.

Rice: Scott Abell has announced the completion of his staff with the addition of Brian Brown to coach the receivers. The former two-time All American receiver at Richmond (FCS - VA) spent last season at Davidson (FCS - NC) with Abell as a defensive assistant and secondary coach.

Cleveland Browns: The team has interviewed Giants assistant quarterbacks coach Christian Jones for their quarterbacks job, Tom Pelissero shares.

Dallas Cowboys: Jerry Jones and the Cowboys have had discussions about the head coaching job with former Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll that the Fort Worth Star Telegram describes as "informal", yet "legitimate." So, there's that...

Rex Ryan: The former Jets head coach turned ESPN analyst shares that he had conversations to be the defensive coordinator in Dallas prior to the 2024 season, but Dallas refused to "pony up the money."

Houston Texans: The organization has fired team president Greg Grissom.

Cleveland Browns: After giving up play calling duties midway through last season, Kevin Stefanski is stepping back into the primary play caller duties in 2025.

Georgia State: In a move that has been expected for some time, the team has now formally announced that Hue Jackson has been promoted to offensive coordinator.

Dallas Cowboys: Despite reports that Packers special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia, who previously spent five seasons with the Cowboys, is a mystery head coaching candidate, Ed Werder shares that the team has not made a request to the Packers to interview Bisaccia who went 7-5 as the Raiders interim head coach in 2021.

Louisiana Monroe: Cody Wells, the offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach at Evangel (NAIA - MO), has joined the staff as an offensive assistant, per source.

Bethel (NAIA - TN): Bethel University is currently looking for (1) full time entry level defensive backs coach and (1) defensive graduate assistant linebacker coach. Cincinnati Bengals: As expected, Al Golden has been formally announced as the new defensive coordinator.

Harwick (D-III - NY): Hartwick College is seeking an opponent for Week 1 of the 2026 football season. Preferably an away game in 2026 as part of a two-year commitment, with an institution that is willing to travel to Hartwick in 2027. Minnesota: Danny Collins' promotion to defensive coordinator is now official.

Detroit Lions: Dan Campbell is moving quickly to replace outgoing coaches, and Jeremy Fowler shares Bucs run game coordinator / defensive line coach Kacy Rogers - a Todd Bowles colleague dating back to 2015 - is expected to join the staff as defensive line coach. He will replace Terrell Williams who left to become Mike Vrabels defensive coordinator in New England.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Jonathan Jones shares that the Jags will continue to search to land a head coach and then begin a GM search.

South Alabama: Sources tell FootballScoop Major Applewhite and South Alabama is hiring an Auburn staffer on the offensive side of the ball.

North Carolina: Bill Belichick has signed his deal, and on Thursday UNC released the full contents of the 5-year pact.

Midwestern State (D-II - TX): Midwestern State has hired Virginia Union offensive line coach Ryan Finck to the same position. Finck previously served as the assistant offensive line coach at Kentucky and Alabama, with GA stints at Wyoming and Ohio.

Elmhurst (D-III - IL): Elmhurst University is looking to schedule an opponent for either Week 1 of the 2026 season (9/5/2026) or Week 5 of the 2026 season (10/3/2026). Preferably Week 1 and a one year agreement as a home contest. Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys are closing in on a deal to elevate Brian Schottenheimer to head coach, per Clarence Hill Jr.

Graceland University (NAIA - IA): Graceland University is looking for several restricted earning positions. Coaches with Corners and Wide Receivers Experience is preferred. These coaches will be responsible for coaching their own position group, recruiting their own area, and any other duties assigned by the Head Coach and Coordinators. These coaches will also be responsible for assisting with film breakdowns for opponent scouting. Jacksonville Jaguars: Ian Rapoport shares that the Jags aren't limiting themselves to the two coaches set for in-person interviews this week (Robert Saleh and Patrick Graham) and their interview schedule is also expected to include coaches in the playoffs like Bill OC Joe Brady and Eagles OC Kellen Moore.

Warner (NAIA - FL): Warner University is looking to hire a Defensive Coordinator. This position will coach a defensive position. Overseeing the Defensive staff, Defensive game planning, team discipline, strength & conditioning, recruiting, film duties, practice planning, equipment, on field coaching, study hall, and any other duties assigned by the head coach will be tied in with this position. New England Patriots: John Streicher, better known as Stretch is leaving the Rams, to go back to work with Mike Vrabel. Strech was Vrabel's right hand man with the Titans. He served in a game management role, as well as handling other responsibilities, with the Rams. 

UConn: The University of Connecticut Football Team is seeking a Video Coordinator. Responsibilities include assisting the football coaching staff with practice and game preparation through the collection and organization of videos to be used for performance analysis, creation of individual player and position unit video clips, and preparation of videos for examination of team and opponent tendencies. This position will also assist the coaching staff in guiding/developing student-athletes through regular, ongoing and consistent teaching with video analysis, and will maintain an organized video library that can be easily accessed by the staff as needed. The successful candidate will be present at all team practices as well as all home, away, and postseason contests; will assist coaches with their recruiting efforts as related to review of prospect videos; and will perform other program duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach. New York Jets: Second GM interviews with Broncos assistant GM Darren Mougey and Bengals senior personnel executive Trey Brown are taking place today and Jonathan Jones shares that there's an expectation that a decision could be made by the end of the day. Mougey and Brown join Commanders assistant GM Lance Newmark as the finalists for the job.

LSU: LSU is bringing an FCS coordinator aboard its staff, sources tell FootballScoop.

Colorado State: The defensive staff under Tyson Summers has been completed with the official additions of Brayden Herdic (safeties) and John Jancek (OLBs).  Herdic was assistant defensive backs coach at WKU last season, while Jancek is a well traveled college coaching veteran who spent last season with the program as a volunteer assistant.

Championship Coaches: From 2000-15, only one coach won his first national championship after his fourth year on the job. Now, the last three coaches to win titles didn't break through until Year 6 or after. How and why?

New Orleans Saints: Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver will interview Friday for the head coaching job while Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will interview for the job Saturday and former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is expected to interview sometime next week Adam Schefter has shared. 

Alabama A&M (FCS): Miles College (D-II - MS) offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Dennis Alexander has been named the program's new offensive coordinator.

Minnesota: Veteran college defensive coordinator Kevin Kane, who has called defenses at Northern Illinois, SMU and Purdue is joining the Gophers staff in an on-field coaching role, per ESPN.

Harvard (FCS - MA): Holy Cross (FCS - MA) running backs coach Kevin Falaki has joined the staff in the same capacity. He takes the place of Laz Mitjans Jr., who left to become the head coach at Worcester State (D-III - MA).

Rocky Mountain (NAIA - MT): Rocky Mountain College has undergraduate positions available in student coaching / equipment / football operations. Minnesota: After one season in Orlando with UCF, Zack Lucas has been named the new director of football operations for PJ Fleck and the Gophers. He fills the role vacated by Daniel Ifft, who left the program earlier this month for an opportunity outside of football.

Howard (FCS - Washington, DC): Howard University Football is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Video Coordinator to join our team on a part-time hourly basis. The Video Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting the team’s performance by managing video operations, filming practices and games, analyzing game footage, and ensuring seamless video production for the coaching staff and players. Palisades: After the California wildfires left the Palisades community in complete shambles, the program's head coach and players vow to be back this fall, declaring they "aren't going anywhere."

Kent State: ESPN reports former Minnesota star running back Mohamed Ibrahim is expected to join the staff of Kenni Burns to coach the running backs. Burns is the former Gophers running backs coach responsible for recruiting Ibrahim, who helped out with the running backs at Minnesota this past fall and ranks among the Big Ten's all-time leading rushers. 

Texas A&M: The Aggies are set to nab James Madison defensive coordinator Lyle Hemphill.

Chicago Bears: The team has requested premission to interview Rams assistant head coach / pass game coordinator Aubrey Pleasant for the defensive coordinator job on Ben Johnson's staff.

Midwest Champions: We've been brainwashed by the likes of ESPN to think championship football is played in the south. That narrative should change, starting today, as the midwest is the new home of all championship football programs FBS to NAIA.
