Maine: The University of Maine Sports Performance department is now accepting applications for the Fall 2023 internship program, spanning from August 28th until December 8th. Applicants should be working toward a degree in Exercise Science (or a related field), or hold an undergraduate degree in the respective field. Selected individuals should expect to gain experience working with all 15 Division 1 sports at The University of Maine, including Ice Hockey (Hockey East), Football (FCS, CAA), Basketball (America East) as well as other nationally recognized programs. Applicants should be highly motivated, eager to learn, and possess the desire to be involved with high-level collegiate athletics. Applicants must be able to commit a minimum of 20 hours per week working with the Sports Performance staff; undertaking responsibilities of working with both in-season and off-season program implementation, set-up and breakdown of team lifts, coaching as directed, data analysis/input, and other administrative duties as assigned. Once accepted into the Sports Performance Internship role, interns should expect to learn directly from the sports performance staff through team training sessions, as well as involvement in weekly staff meetings and intern education workshops designed to prepare interns to sit for the CSCS exam. There will also be opportunities for interns to coach and program for their own teams as decided by the sports performance staff. There will be no monetary compensation for this position; however, selected individuals should expect to receive valuable experience with various Division 1 athletic programs. Interns will also receive a University of Maine gear package, and a letter of recommendation at the completion of the internship (contingent upon performance). The deadline to apply for this position is August 14th. To apply, please send a resume including 3 professional references, and a cover letter to Andrew Wary at andrew.wary@maine.edu .
