UConn: The University of Connecticut Football Strength and Conditioning staff is currently accepting applications for our Spring 2025 volunteer internship program. The position will run from Jan 21st – May 2nd. Ideal candidates must be highly motivated and working towards a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Exercise Science or a related field. Yale (FCS - CT): Yale Football Strength and Conditioning is seeking qualified candidates to fill available internship positions for the Spring 2025 semester. This internship includes a classroom lecture component as well as comprehensive hours in the weight room alongside full-time coaches for a hands-on experience at the Division I level. Students will not only gain the knowledge of program design and theory, nutrition, athletic testing, and leadership, but also have the chance to apply what they have learned in a practical setting with Division I athletes. Interns have the opportunity to work with a variety of emerging technologies in the field including Force plates, GPS Tracking, Velocity Based Training, Speed Training Technology, and more. Interns will have the opportunity to be part of game day operations. The goal of this internship is to give interns the necessary tools to obtain jobs within the strength and conditioning field. The hours will closely resemble that of a full-time strength and conditioning coach. Experience gained through our program can be used towards academic credits for college. This is an NSCA accredited continuing education site. You will receive 2 continuing education units (CEU’s) upon completion. The ideal prospective candidate would be a current or recently graduated college student. Preference will be given to those who have studied Exercise Science; however, all professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Additional considerations will be given to those who have an athletic or coaching background, as well as those who are eager to gain experience coaching in a collegiate strength and conditioning setting. Jenison HS (MI): The Jenison High School Strength & Performance Department, located in Jenison, Michigan, is actively seeking applicants for a paid summer intern position working with our Junior High and High School student-athletes. This position will begin on May 19th, 2025 and conclude on August 1st, 2025. This is an eleven-week commitment. Our summer schedule consists of training 7th-12th grade student-athletes Monday-Thursday from 6:00am-3:00pm. Your responsibilities will include: implementation of all aspects of strength & performance programs (must be confident and proficient coaching strength training, Olympic lifting, plyometric, linear speed, and multi- directional speed movements), set-up/breakdown/general maintenance of the weight room and field, data collection/organization/entry, and education and implementation of training standards. What you get: experience coaching large groups of athletes to grow your coaching skills for the next step in your career, experience with TeamBuildr, Titan GPS, OVR Jump and Freelap Timing systems, $5,000, and Jenison Strength Gear. No housing or meals will be provided. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, CSCS, proficiency with Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint. Previous team/group coaching experience is highly preferred as you will be coaching your own groups.
