South Carolina: The University of South Carolina Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for Volunteer Interns for the Summer of 2021. We are looking to start the position June 1st; the internship will conclude at the end of July 2021 with the opportunity to stay through the Fall season. This is an unpaid position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for Football, set up and break down for daily training, routine maintenance/cleaning of the training facilities, and completion of the internship curriculum. Required qualifications include a strong work ethic, completion, or current pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional in the collegiate or professional setting. All applicants should have or be working towards an accredited certification (CSCS or SCCC). Other preferred qualifications include previous coaching in a collegiate setting and personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport. Applications will be taken until the positions are filled. Delaware: The University of Delaware Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for VOLUNTEER INTERNSHIPS in Strength and Conditioning for the Summer of 2021. Start dates for the internship are June 7th, 2021, through August 13, 2021, with the possibility of earning an extension. This is a voluntary position. Neither monetary compensation nor housing or meals will be provided. Priority consideration will be given to candidates who possess or are working towards their BS or MS degree in Exercise Science or a related field, who possess certification through the NSCA or CSCCa, and who are CPR / First Aid / AED Certified. Volunteer sports performance interns will have the opportunity to complete the CSCCa 640 hour Practicum under an approved CSCCa mentor. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Set up and breakdown of weight training and conditioning sessions for all sports, general maintenance and upkeep of athletic facilities, assist with sports nutrition and assist with data analytics. Interns will work up to 6 hours per day/24 hours per week in morning or afternoon shifts. Additional hours are available upon request. Interns will work with Olympic Sports as well as football. This position is for people interested in becoming sports performance coaches. Selected candidates will receive valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of a collegiate strength and conditioning program. Southern Miss: The University of Southern Mississippi Football Strength & Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for the Summer 2021. The duration of the internship is June 1- July 30 with the opportunity to stay longer. You will receive hands on experience, which will prove to be invaluable for those getting started in the Strength & Conditioning profession. This is an UNPAID position. However, the position offers the opportunity for advancement in the field of strength and conditioning, as well as the fulfillment of credit hours towards a degree program. This position would assist in the implementation of our program, set up and break down of all workouts and maintenance and upkeep of our weight room. Required qualifications include having or working towards degree, a relentless work ethic, attention to detail and a desire to become a strength and conditioning coach. Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized strength and conditioning association (USAW, CSCS, CSCCa), previous coaching experience and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements. Eastern Kentucky: Eastern Kentucky University Football is looking for volunteer strength and conditioning interns for the 2021 summer session. This is an UNPAID position for the duration of the internship. Individuals selected will be provided with the opportunities to grow and develop as an S&C professional, and get hands on coaching experience with a NCAA Division 1 football program. The daily responsibilities for this position include: daily weight room maintenance, set-up, tear-down, assist with the supervision of the athletes during weight room training sessions and field work. Preferred qualifications: Completion or working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in an exercise science related field. Completion or working towards obtaining their USAW, CSCS and/or SCCC certifications. Must be CPR/AED certified prior to coming to campus. Austin Peay: The Austin Peay State University Football Sports Performance Program is currently accepting applications for UNPAID summer internships. This position will begin Sunday May 30th, 2021 and go through Friday, July 30th, 2021, with the potential to carry on into the fall semester. Applicants should have, or be working towards, a BA/BS in Exercise Science or a related field. Completion of this internship can fulfill credit hours towards a program degree and offer increased opportunities for advancement in the field of sports performance. Preferred qualifications include certification(s) from one or more of the following organizations: The CSCCa (SCCC), NSCA (CSCS), or USAW. Preferred qualifications also include previous coaching experience and proficiency in teaching basic weight room exercises. This position is responsible for assisting the football sports performance staff with the implementation of the off-season program, set up and break down of all training sessions, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room/facility, and hands-on experience training division-I collegiate athletes. Illinois State: The Illinois State University Strength and Conditioning Staff is currently seeking applications for one Volunteer Strength and Conditioning Intern for the Summer Semester of 2021. This internship opportunity will be “UNPAID” beginning on June 1, 2021 and ending July 31st. The intern will assist with all Olympic Sports, and will also have the opportunity to assist with Football. Preferred applicants must have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, be detail oriented, have previous training experience, and have a desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the Strength and Conditioning Staff in all aspects of program administration, data management, facility upkeep, and participation in an internship curriculum. Within the ISU Strength and Conditioning program, you will follow a protocol that allows you to learn how to: learn and teach proper lifting position and technique, research relevant training modalities, develop training programs and manipulate those programs based on time of year, sport-specificity, exercise progression, periodization, and utilization of available equipment. Applicants should have or be working towards a nationally accredited certification in strength and conditioning. Intern applicants must be CPR/AED certified.
