UTSA: The University of Texas at San Antonio Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for Volunteer Interns for the Spring of 2024. This internship will begin Tuesday, January 9th, and will conclude in May of 2024. These are unpaid positions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for the University of Texas at San Antonio Football, and all other Olympic Sports. Interns will gain hands on coaching experience in a Division I setting, learn to utilize sport technology data for GPS tracking and VBT, as well as assist with daily logistical tasks in the weight room and complete the internship curriculum. Required qualifications include a strong work ethic, completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional in the collegiate or professional setting. Applicants should be working towards holding a certification from a recognized governing body (NSCA or CSCCA). Other preferred qualifications include previous coaching in a collegiate setting and/or personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport. Oregon: The University of Oregon football program, under the direction of Head Strength Coach Wilson Love, is accepting internship applications for both winter (January 8 to March 15) and spring (April 1 to June 7) 2024. Applicants must have strong work ethic, as well as a strong desire to become a professional strength coach. This is an unpaid volunteer position, and is structured for those interested in pursuing a career in strength and conditioning coaching. Work hours will range from early morning to early evening, and workdays will range from 5-7 days per week. Responsibilities include set up and tear down of weightroom and running workouts, periodic weightroom cleaning, equipment maintenance, record keeping, restocking of refueling stations, and participation in the professional development component of the internship program. Qualified candidates will receive invaluable insights of on-floor training of a FBS football program, as well as gaining firsthand experience in the latest coaching techniques and establishing a network of professional references.
