Joe Graves is expected to become Georgia Southern's running backs coach, sources told FootballScoop on Saturday.
Graves spent the past three seasons in the same role at ULM, and prior to that spent two seasons in the same role at Southeastern Louisiana, his alma mater. A fast riser, Graves graduated from SLU in 2016, where he was a three-time all-conference offensive lineman for the Lions.
Graves replaces Chris Foster, who left last week for the same role at East Carolina.
Graves inherits a running backs room who could return up to four players who saw significant action in 2020. Senior JD King led the room with 116 carries for 625 yards and five touchdowns, but junior Logan Wright, senior Wesley Kennedy III, freshman Gerald Green and junior Matt LaRoche all rushed for at least 200 yards on the year.
Georgia Southern finished the season 8-5, including a dominating 38-3 R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl win over Louisiana Tech.
After taking over as interim head coach during the 2017 season, the Eagles have won 25 games over the past three seasons under Chad Lunsford's watch.
