Problematic Twitter 'likes' force Shemy Schembechler, Bo's son, to resign from Michigan recruiting post (Jim Harbaugh)

Schemy Schembechler has resigned from the Michigan recruiting post he announced just this week.

In a statement attributed to both AD Warde Manuel and head coach Jim Harbaugh, Michigan said:

Effective this afternoon, Shemy Schembechler has resigned his position with Michigan Football. We are aware of some comments and likes on social media that have caused concern and pain for individuals in our community. Michigan Athletics is fully committed to a place where our coaches, staff and student-athletes feel welcome and where fully support the University's and Athletic Department's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Schembechler was Michigan's assistant director of recruiting. He scouted for several NFL teams after serving as a GA at Michigan, and also ran his own service providing scouting and intel for high school athletes in search of a scholarship.

In one screen-shot post from January, Schembechler liked multiple messages defending Jim Crow laws. In another, he liked a post associating House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries with African tribal imagery. There were plenty more.

Schembechler deactivated his Twitter account on Saturday afternoon.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
