In the arms race of college football, facilities may get the most publicity, but behind the scenes the programs that understand what it takes to win are beefing up their recruiting departments with personnel.
More people in the recruiting department typically means more eyes available to evaluate more prospects, and looking at how many scholarships some FBS programs offered to 2020 recruits, it's easy to see how the investment in recruiting personnel is earning their keep.
According to HeroSports, one program stood out head and shoulders above the rest of major college football when it came to scholarships offered to the 2020 recruiting class. Southern Miss offered 587 scholarships to the 2020 recruits. Tennessee, the next closest, offered 490 kids. Each program took 23 commitments each.
Compare that to some of the more selective schools like Washington, Stanford, Northwestern and Rice who each extended less than 100 scholarships each and each signed 25 kids or less.
