After a 2-4 start that has them on track to give up the most points in NFL history, some Cowboys players are voicing some frustrations about Mike McCarthy and his coaching staff's approach.
According to a tweet from Jane Slater, Cowboys players are sounding off after not being responsive to reporters originally reaching out the past few weeks, and are now stating the following regarding the staff:
"Totally unprepared. They don't teach. They don't have any sense of adjusting on the fly."
"They just aren't good at their jobs," another player added.
Mike McCarthy was hired by Jerry Jones in Dallas back in January. He took the 2019 season away from the sidelines studying recent offensive and defensive trends around the college and NFL game after being let go in Green Bay after a 4-7 start to the 2018 season. Prior to that, in 12 full seasons in Green Bay, McCarthy led the team to eight double-digit win seasons, including a 10-6 season in 2010 that ended with a Super Bowl win. His best season with the Packers outside of the Super Bowl victory came in 2011 when they went 15-1, losing to the Giants in the NFL Divisional game.
It's impossible to decipher whether there's any real truth to what the Cowboys players quoted by Slater have to say, or if it is just a small section of frustrated players speaking up after a rough start to the season that saw them lose their starting quarterback in dramatic fashion.
Whatever is happening in Dallas, from the comments made by Jerry Jones earlier today, it seems like he's committed to giving the staff some time to sort through this rebuild the team is facing, but comments like that leaking publicly aren't doing the staff any favors.
