SEC wins in Hugh Freeze's first season on The Plains have been hard to come by, but on Saturday Auburn picked up their first league win of the year against Mississippi State.
Auburn's offense was clicking early on, as one reporter pointed out that 11 different guys had a reception in the first half.
The win pushed them to 4-4 on the year and 1-4 in SEC play.
Freeze shared that following their Ole Miss loss that they wanted to focus on their tempo and RPOs to allow their players to play free and fast.
Then Freeze touched on how proud he was of everyone in the entire program for how they've battled through adversity without folding, and how everyone encounters two things in life, football, and in their jobs.
"All week long, we talked about, in life and in football, and in your job, I think that everyone in here, and everyone in that team room and every staff member is going to have to deal with two things, and that is closed doors and unmet expectations."
"The real challenge for most people, and I think most people give into it and remain average, is the challenge is to not become disengaged. That looks a lot of different ways, and I'm just really proud that our kids decided to fight."
Freeze and the Tigers have Vanderbilt on the road this weekend, followed by a trip to Arkansas, New Mexico State at home before welcoming Nick Saban and Alabama to The Plains for the Iron Bowl to wrap up the year.
