Deion Sanders' first day at Jackson State: House hunting and a hit piece (Jackson State)

Though he was officially hired back on Sept. 21, Deion Sanders' honeymoon period with Jackson State was -- and this will be a theme for as long as this thing lasts -- unconventional. Most coaches will make a point to tell the assembled crowd at their introductory press conferences how they were grinding recruiting tape right before they stepped to the podium and they'll be hitting the road the moment they leave.

That wasn't quite the case here. Deion kept coaching his son's high school team, kept making trips to New York for his duties with Barstool, kept being Deion.

That stopped on Tuesday, or at least it slowed down.

Deion will continue podcasting for Jackson State -- this has always been phrased as Jackson State borrowing Deion from Barstool and not the other way around, even by Jackson State -- but Coach Prime reported for duty as the clock turned to Dec. 1.

"I'm extremely excited to officially begin my journey and duties as COACH PRIME at Thee I Love Jackson State University," Sanders said in a statement. "We will recruit young men of character and commitment. Our desire is to develop and graduate professionals on and off the field in preparation for life. We will win games and lives of the next generation."

And in a move that was in no way coincidental, the Washington Poston Tuesday published a long story on the Prime Prep saga and Deion's involvement. The story included no new information; the Sanders camp and Jackson State had no comment.

Unfazed by the Post piece, Deion and his star recruit Shedeur Sanders hit the town looking for a piece of real estate for Sanders the Younger.

"House, Condo, Townhouse, Apartment & Studio hunting for my son in Jackson and surrounding areas," he wrote. "Who has the best Nice, Safe, Comfortable spot here? Please let #CoachPrime know ASAP. Rental homes and all 3 bedrooms and up we want to see. We have family coming with him."

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
