After four seasons, the Commanders and Ron Rivera are expected to part ways, according to a report from Ian Rapoport today.
Entering the regular season finale tonight the Commanders have lost seven games in a row, the and are 4-12 with an 0-5 mark in NFC East play.
After leading the team to a playoff appearance in 2020 at 7-9, Washington went 7-19 and then 8-8-1 under Rivera before their well documented struggles this season.
At 62 years old, with 13 seasons as an NFL head coach between the Commanders and Panthers, Rivera has had just three winnings seasons.
The best of those came during a 15-1 season with Cam Newton at quarterback in 2015 when the Panthers made a run to Super Bowl 50.
The team parted ways with defensive coordinator, and former Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio back on November 24th, in hopes that it would help them get the season back on track, but instead the team went 0-4 in their games that followed.

Rapoport adds that the status of general manager Martin Mayhew is also in doubt, "though that decision might not be made immediately" and the organization is expected to explore a modified front office structure similar to other sports.
