Central Methodist begins search for new head coach (David Calloway)

Central Methodist (NAIA - MO) and head coach David Calloway had a breakout season two years ago, finishing the 2021 season 9-3.

However, the NAIA program recently made the decision to take the program in a new direction after finishing this past fall 1-10.

Central Methodist recently posted the opening.

Calloway took over the program in 2016 following one season as defensive coordinator.

He went 8-24 through his first three seasons before a 5-5-1 year in 2019.

The program made headlines prior to the 2019 season after signing Toni Harris, who became the first female skill position player to a letter of intent for a football scholarship. Harris had previously spent two seasons at the JuCo level.

Following a limited 5-4 season in 2020, Calloway led the program to their best record under his leadership in 2021 with the 9-3 year.

Before joining the Central Methodist staff, Calloway spent two seasons as the head coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville (D-II). He was promoted to the post there as well after spending five seasons on staff as defensive coordinator for the Javelinas.

The opening marks the 9th head coaching change at the NAIA level. You can keep track of all head coaching movement via this tracking page.
