Video shows two San Antonio HS players apparently targeting referee (high schools)

The video below, via Deadspin, shows two San Antonio Jay HS defenders apparently targeting an umpire in a game against Marble Falls on Friday night. The first player appears to take a direct shot at the umpire, completely removed from the play at hand, while the other dove into the official while he laid on the ground.

A San Antonio Express-News article says Northside ISD is aware of the incident and has notified the University Interscholastic League, the governing body for public high schools in Texas.

If the impending investigation confirms what appears to take place below - and I personally don't see how it couldn't - the players in question need to be removed from any and all high school sports for the remainder of their respective careers. It is believed the players targeted the official over a "bad call." "The question of what instigated that is what we’re trying to figure out," Northside ISD athletics director Stan Laing said.

And if it can be proven that their coaches had any input or prior knowledge of this apparent scheme, they need to be barred from ever coaching high school sports again.

There is simply no place for this in football.
