Wilson has spent the past six seasons as the running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at LSU, a driving force behind the Tigers' considerable success on the recruiting trail. He'll need to expand upon that success at UTSA as he takes over a new program fresh off a 3-9 season. The Roadrunners, who play in the off-campus and spacious Alamodome, call the seventh-largest city in America home with plenty of talent within an afternoon's drive, but the landscape is among the most competitive in the country.
UTSA has encouraged all of its head coaching candidates to consider retaining Larry Coker's existing staff, but the offensive, defensive and special teams coordinator spots are open. With recruiting opening today, Wilson will have to work to build his staff quickly.
Though the team struggled this fall, Coker quickly built a winner at UTSA as the team won eight games in its first season at the FBS level and seven (with a 6-2 conference mark) in its first season in Conference USA.
