UCF adds new assistant director of football ops (Lauryn Ford)

As UCF enters the Scott Frost 2.0 era, it is adding staff for an off-the-field role.

Frost and the Golden Knights have hired Lauryn Ford to become the program's assistant director of football operations.

It's an intriguing move for UCF, which hired Ford from fellow Big 12 Conference member Arizona.

For the Wildcats, Ford had worked in the football department under general manager Gaizka Ansola-Crowley in recruiting operations.

But Ford also brings unique perspective as a former student-athlete. She was a sprinter for both BYU and Arizona, where she finished her career competing in indoor and outdoor track and field.

UCF rehired Frost earlier this year after the abrupt departure of Gus Malzahn to become offensive coordinator at Florida State.

The Golden Knights were a dreadful 4-8 in 2024.

Frost returned after coaching in the NFL following his ouster at Nebraska, his alma mater.

UCF is schedule to open its 2025 season Thursday, Aug. 28, against Jacksonville State. The Golden Knights then begin Big 12 play Sept. 27 at Kansas State.
