Timmy Chang announces two coordinators will not return at Hawaii

Timmy Chang is making some significant changes to his staff following his second year leading the program.

Co-offensive coordinator / tight ends coach Ian Shoemaker, co-defensive coordinator / defensive tackles coach Eti Ena, and corners coach Steve Irvin will not return to the staff.

Before joining the staff on the island prior to the 2022 season, Shoemaker led a productive offense at Eastern Washington and previously served as the head coach at Central Washington for six seasons.

Partway through the season, seeking a spark offensively, Chang took over the play calling duties.

Ena also joined the staff from Eastern Washington, where served as defensive coordinator for three seasons from 2019-21.

Irvin just wrapped up his first season on staff after previously coaching the linebackers at the University of San Diego (FCS) for three seasons, and the corners at UNLV prior to that.

The school has also posted their defensive coordinator position on the Career Opportunities page on the school's website.

Jacob Yoro served in that role last season.

The Warriors showed improvement this fall, going from 3-10 in Chang's initial season in 2022 to 5-8 this past fall.
