South Carolina releases statement on Will Muschamp's future (Featured)

Earlier this week we shared that Will Muschamp was expected to return to lead South Carolina next year, despite a 4-6 start.

Today, athletic director Ray Tanner released a statement of support for Muschamp, offering his full support.

That statement read in part:

"Today I want to make it clear that Will Muschamp is our football coach and will be out coach going forward. President Caslen and I are fully supportive of his leadership and his development of student athletes on and off the field. Coach Muschamp and our staff are dedicated to the success of Gamecock football."

Our update on South Carolina earlier this week shared noted that while Muschamp was expected to return, the understanding was that the program needs to show signs of advancing and some staff changes may be on the horizon in hopes of better on-field results.

With two games remaining, a bowl bid is going to be a large task as Muschamp and his staff take the Gamecocks to Texas A&M tomorrow and then have a bye week before playing Clemson at home to wrap up the year.
