After losing up-and-coming young offensive coordinator Dane Stevens back to Ole Miss, second-year West Georgia coach Joel Taylor is turning within to maintain some continuity.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Austin Davis being elevated from offensive line coach to offensive coordinator after the departure last week of Stevens, who's been tabbed to serve as a passing game specialist for Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr. at Ole Miss.
A former Duke player who coached at his alma mater under David Cutcliffe, as well as for a year at North Carolina State, Davis also coached the offensive line at Northern Arizona prior to his arrival last year at UWG.
He was an All-ACC pick for the Blue Devils during a four-year career in which he became a multi-year starter.
Additionally, sources tell FootballScoop that Reid Sanders -- a former quarterback at tradition-rich HBCU program Southern and an Atlanta native -- is being shifted from the role of running backs coach to quarterbacks coach for the Wolves.
West Georgia is retooling much of its offensive staff after a 2024 transitional season into FCS play, when it won four games. The Wolves also lost promising young wide receivers coach David Whitlow last month after he accepted a post at the FBS level on Jerry Mack's Kennesaw State staff.
