Sources: South Alabama set for major staff shake-up (will windham)

Coming off a resounding win against Eastern Michigan in his program's bowl game and a second consecutive winning season, South Alabama head coach Kane Wommack is making a handful of moves to keep pushing the Jaguars forward, multiple sources shared with FootballScoop.

On the heels of their 7-6 campaign, the Jaguars are parting ways with running backs coach Antonio Bradford, offensive line coach Gordon Steele and wide receivers coach Michael Smith.

Defensively, Wommack is also making a change with linebackers coach Will Windham.

Sources said that Wommack will immediately begin the process to find replacements for the quartet of openings.

USA has won 17 games in its past two seasons under Wommack, who has quickly ascended through the coaching ranks from his early days as an assistant for Jason Simpson at UT-Martin to his heralded work as defensive coordinator at Indiana University that preceded his arrival atop the South Alabama program.

The Jaguars are set to open their 2024 campaign at home against North Texas Aug. 31 before four weeks later traveling to face LSU inside Death Valley.

Wommack, who's already been pursued for other posts since his arrival at South Alabama, is transitioning into his fourth season atop the program. He earned a raise and contract extension after the program's record-setting 2022 campaign.
