Wes Satterfield is a free agent no more.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Satterfield, whose previous stops include Ohio State, North Carolina and Richmond, is joining Ryan Beard's Missouri State Bears staff.

For the Bears, Satterfield is set to coach tight ends and serve as the team's co-special teams coordinator.

A Tennessee native whose family name is synonymous with excellence -- Jim Satterfield won Trousdale County's first-ever state title, Dr. Clint Satterfield is an TSSAAA Hall of Famer, Wes Satterfield also owns experience as former offensive coordinator for Will Healy's turnaround of the Austin-Peay football program.

More recently, Satterfield was on staff at Tennessee Tech under former Golden Eagles coach Dewayne Alexander.

He started his coaching career working with Butch Davis and John Shoop at North Carolina for three seasons before landing a spot on the Buckeyes staffs under Tressel and then Fickell at Ohio State.

Satterfield also has worked for Russ Huesman at both Chattanooga and Richmond and also under Ron Roberts at Southeastern Louisiana.

After a 4-7 campaign in Beard's first season as heir apparent to Bobby Petrino, Missouri State opens its 2024 season Aug. 31 at FCS 2023 runner-up Montana.
