Take note: Xavier Goldsmith is on the rise.
After stints on the well-regarded personnel staffs at the University of Utah, as well as Western Michigan, Goldsmith is poised for a significant leap in college football's ever-growing, increasingly important world of off-the-field staff.
Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Goldsmith is exiting his post as a personnel analyst in Kyle Whittingham's Utah program to take over the role of Colorado State's Director of Scouting.
Per sources, Goldsmith is making the move immediately to assist in the evolving personnel department of Rams head coach Jay Norvell, who in 2024 guided Colorado State to an 8-5 campaign.
It's a homecoming of sorts for Goldsmith, a Detroit native who initially signed with the Rams out of high school and then completed his playing career at Idaho State, where he was a business major.
Norvell's ability to lead the Rams to an eight-win season last fall marked the program's most successful year in a decade, when Jim McElwain led CSU to an 10-win campaign before departing shortly thereafter to take over at Florida.
The Rams face another daunting non-conference schedule in 2025. They are scheduled to open Aug. 30 at Washington, as well as home tilts in non-league action against UTSA and Washington State.
