Source: Western Illinois makes a coordinator change (Dan McKeown)

Sources tell FootballScoop that Joe Davis and Western Illinois will enter next fall with a new defensive coordinator.

After one season, defensive play caller Dan McKeown will not return.

While the Leathernecks finished the year 4-8, they managed to field the league's top ranked offense, but they struggled on the defensive side of the ball.

Western Illinois ranked last in the league in total yards allowed, yards per play, and touchdowns given up.

Before joining the Leathernecks, McKeown spent five seasons at the Division II level calling the defense at Saginaw Valley State (D-II - MI). While with the Cardinals, their defenses were often ranked among the top units in Division II football.

The former four-year starter at Adrian College (D-III - MI) at defensive back also had prior coaching stops at Lawrence Tech (NAIA - MI) and Siena Heights (NAIA - MI).
