Source: Western Illinois bolstering offensive staff with hire from Mountain West (Nevada)

Western Illinois (FCS - IL) fielded a top 25 FCS scoring offense last season but struggles on defense resulted in a 4-8 finish in Joe Davis' first season.

The strong season on offense led to receivers coach Vincent Jeffries, a coach with Big Ten ties, getting an opportunity at Florida A&M (FCS) to become their pass game coordinator.

Now, the Leathernecks are poised to fill that opening with a coach from a Mountain West staff, sources share.

Sources tell FootballScoop Nevada offensive graduate assistant Colin Keanu will be the new receivers coach at WIU.

At Nevada, Keanu worked with receivers as well as quarterbacks on Jeff Choate's staff.

Before joining the Nevada staff, Keanu served on staff at Akron.

Back at the end of December, the Leathernecks made a change at defensive coordinator, bringing in former Valparaiso (FCS - IN) head coach Landon Fox to improve the defense.
