The Big Game is Saturday night and oh, this one has meaning.
For Stanford, a win keeps the hopes alive for a spot in the college football playoff. For Cal, a win would be Sonny Dykes first over their rival, less than an hour's drive to the south, and would further reinforce just how far Dykes has led his program back from the dead.
Yes, the game will be fun to watch and would be great to play in; but this post my friends, this one here is more about the off the field rivalry. This post is a salute to rivalries everywhere.
Rivalries are wonderful because they evoke passion, create meaning and memories and add to the beauty and the pageantry that is the game of football.
Enjoy Stanford's annual bearial of the Cal Bear. So strange. So unique. So wonderful.
