If and when the 2020 college football season gets played, we know how coaches feel about the best teams in the country.
The USA Today preseason coaches poll dropped on Thursday, and Clemson will enter the year as the No. 1 team in the country. It's the second straight season Dabo Swinney's team enters as the coaches' favorite.
Ohio State, who fell to Clemson in an epic Fiesta Bowl semifinal, enters the year at No. 2.
After missing the College Football Playoff for the first time in the system's 6-year history, Alabama bounced back to No. 3. The Tide were followed by Georgia at No. 4 and defending champion LSU at No. 5.
Penn State checks in at No. 7; the Nittany Lions will be an interesting test case when the AP poll comes out given that star linebacker Micah Parsons is widely expected to skip this season. No. 18 Minnesota has also lost All-American wide receiver Rashod Bateman.
