Blending NFL experience with collegiate veterans and young, up-and-coming coaches, Tre Lamb largely has his first-year Tulsa staff intact.
In addition to tabbing former Tulane head coach and ex-NFL assistant Chris Scelfo, who spent several seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, into a special assistant to the coach post, Lamb also has hired Mason Biehel from Fresno State into the role of general manager and has veteran Ravi Savitala as chief of staff. Grant Klaver from Arkansas State is set to be the director of football ops, and Lamb, FootballScoop has learned, still is seeking a director of player personnel as well as a director of on-campus recruiting.
On the field, Lamb's offensive staff will shake out as follows: Brad Robbins is the offensive coordinator while Ryan Switzer is being retained as the wideouts coach; Joe Scelfo is coaching the offensive line and Ty Darlington, the former Oklahoma player who's been at Incarnate Word, is the tight ends coach.
After being on Gus Malzahn's UCF staff, Kam Martin arrives as running backs coach, as first reported last month by FootballScoop.
Defensively, Josh Reardon comes from ETSU and gets his first chance to coordinate a defense at the FBS level. Carter Barfield arrives from Florida State as the special teams coordinator.
The remainder of the defensive staff includes linebackers coach Mike Gray, defensive line coach Hakim Gray and Dom Franks in the secondary as the lone defensive holdover.
Joey Guarascio takes over the Tulsa strength and conditioning program for football after being at FAU.
Tulsa also empowered Lamb to hire some analysts, with Tyler Dell and Cam Haney on offense while Dominique Davenport is the defensive analyst.
