College coaching icon Lou Holtz has tested positive for COVID, multiple reports have shared this afternoon.
Coach Holtz, who is 83 years old, shared with ABC Columbia that he "doesn't have a lot of energy right now."
Well known for his time at Notre Dame, Holtz also spend time as the head coach at William & Mary, NC State, with the New York Jets, and at Arkansas, Minnesota, ND, and South Carolina.
After coaching, Holtz spent some time on ESPN in an analyst role and in 2008, he was selected to the College Football Hall of Fame. He remains the only college football coach to lead six different programs to bowl appearances and is also the only coach to lead four different programs to top 20 rankings.
Holtz isn't the first retired coaching figure to test positive for the virus. Back in early October former Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden tested positive, and that later led to some time in the hospital. Bowden has since been released from the hospital and was recovering well.
Please join us in keeping coach Holtz in your prayers.
