Jeff Lebby reportedly tabbing Alabama assistant as defensive coordinator (Alabama)

Jeff Lebby is bringing a high powered offense to Starkville to compete in the SEC, so a lot of eyes have been on who he tabs as his defensive coordinator as a first-time head coach.

According to a report today, Lebby is finalizing a deal with a member of Nick Saban's staff at Alabama to come run his defense.

Coleman Hutzler, who serves as special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach for the Tide, is nearing a deal to be the new Bulldogs defensive coordinator, Ross Dellenger shares.

A former nominee for the Broyles Award, he brings some valuable SEC experience with him from stops at coordinating special teams at South Carolina, Ole Miss and two stops at Florida.

He also held co-defensive coordinator title at Texas in 2020.

In Starkville, he joins a staff of Anthony Tucker (assistant HC / RBs), Cody Kennedy (OL), Jon Cooper (TEs), Matt Holocek (QBs), Chad Bumphis (WRs) and David Turner (OL).
