Jack Del Rio lands another head coaching job (jack del rio)

Jack Del Rio is once again an American football head coach, this time in Europe.

Del Rio has been appointed the head coach of the Paris Musketeers of the European League of Football. The ELF started in 2021 as an attempt to revive and expand upon NFL Europe, which existed in the 1990s and again in 2007.

The Musketeers went 10-2 in 2024 and reached the semifinals of the 16-team league. Marc Mattioli was the club's head coach during that season; he took the defensive coordinator job at Kennesaw State earlier this month.

Del Rio was an All-American linebacker at USC in the mid-1980s whose NFL career lasted from 1985 through 2023. He played 12 seasons for the Saints, Chiefs, Cowboys, Vikings and Dolphins, collecting more than 1,000 tackles along the way.

He entered coaching as an assistant strength coach for the Saints in 1997, won a Super Bowl as the Baltimore Ravens linebackers coach in the 2000 season, served as the defensive coordinator for three different franchises, and spent a dozen seasons as the head coach of the Jaguars and Raiders.

Del Rio took the Jaguars to the divisional round in 2007, where they fell to the undefeated-at-the-time New England Patriots, and went 25-23 as the head coach of the Raiders -- a record far more impressive than it appears on the surface

Del Rio spent 2024 as a senior advisor to head coach Luke Fickell at Wisconsin.
