Emotional moment on SMU sideline serves a reminder of what makes football special (Featured)

It seems like a few times a year, cameras are there to capture a special moment on the sideline between a coach and player that reminds us what makes football so special.

Over the weekend, one of those touching moments took place on the SMU sideline after Braeden West caught a big pass on the final drive of the game to score the game-winning touchdown.

After West came to the sideline running backs coach Claude Mathis met him at the bench and provided an emotional and touching moment we can all appreciate. Mathis joined the SMU staff as running backs coach in January 2015, and prior to that spent seven seasons as the head coach at DeSoto HS (TX) where he went 74-18 in seven seasons.

"That's why we brought you here," Mathis starts off telling West.

"You've got a lot of heart boy. I love you. I wouldn't trade you for nothing in the world. NOTHING! I don't give a damn about what anyone says, I would NEVER trade you. NEVER! Great job boy!"

Check out that moment in the clip. SMU went on to win 35-31
