The move that sparked substantial realignment across college football will reportedly have to wait until 2025.
Pete Thamel tweets this morning that, despite the efforts for Oklahoma and Texas to leave the Big 12 for the SEC a year early (in 2024), the movement for that to happen has stalled.
Thamel adds that the Longhorns and Sooners will instead join the SEC in 2025, as originally outlined.
The failure for a deal to come together was in large part because of the complex nature of negotiations involving both Texas and Oklahoma, ESPN and Fox, and the Big 12, Thamel adds.
As recently as December, there was hope among those involved that a deal would get done.
