Deion Sanders says Colorado knew Travis Hunter's stats, wanted to ensure 100-yard day (Colorado)

The Rocky Mountain Showdown isn't on the books for another five years.

Deion Sanders capped his first two-game set atop the Colorado program with a pair of wins against in-state rival Colorado State with Saturday night's 28-9 triumph.

And in the process, Coach Prime admitted the game was personal -- as he carried on his year-long feud with CSU coach Jay Norvell -- and also acknowledged the Buffaloes padded Travis Hunter's stats in the win.

The final score of which, by the way, Sanders said also didn't reflect his team's overpowering performance.

Hunter, the two-way star and All-American, became the first player in Colorado school history to amass four-straight 100-yard receiving games.

With 13 catches, Hunter tallied exactly 100 yards and hauled in two touchdown passes from Shedeur Sanders, who finished with 310 passing yards and four touchdowns.

"We got him back in there to make sure he got those 100 yards," Deion Sanders told CBS.

Reminded he had called this rivalry personal, Sanders said "It was" before expounding on the win.

"It feels darn good. Especially for the Buffs faithful," Deion Sanders said. "The defense played an outstanding game. Offense turned it on in the end. We ran the ball well.

"All cylinders were clicking today. The score is not indicative of how the game really played out."

Coach Prime also praised the relationship of Shedeur Sanders and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, as well as the bounce-back performance of the Colorado offensive line a week after the Buffs were hammered by Nebraska.

"He and Pat have a tremendous relationship and with his receivers and his offensive linemen," Deion Sanders said. "His offensive linemen were truly upset, so they took it personal. ...

"Buffs faithful, we love you, we appreciate you. Thank you for staying with us."

Hunter told CBS that Colorado's players banded together to block out the outside noise.

"We decided we not gonna let people talk about us in the media," said Hunter, who also vowed to take his offensive linemen out to dinner. "We gonna go put our head down and just run."

Colorado, now 2-1, begins Big 12 play next Saturday night at home against Baylor.
