Defiant Brian Kelly lashes out after LSU loses to USC (Las Vegas)

A visibly and admittedly angry Brian Kelly lashed out and hit a press conference table Sunday night after his LSU team failed to hold a second-half lead in an 27-20 loss to USC.

It was the third-straight season-opening loss for Kelly as the LSU head coach, having dropped the previous two openers against Florida State in neutral site contests.

This game also was not played on either team's campus but rather in Las Vegas.

Kelly opened his remarks in saying it was his first time at LSU that he remembered being angry at his team and also lamented the Tigers's inability to find a way to win when several players rose to the occasion.

"Hell yes, hell yes," Kelly said of his disappointment, before getting more agitated and. slamming his fist onto the table. "And that's what i said to the team, we had some guys play their butts off tonight and we're sitting here again, we're sitting here again (smashing the table) talking about the same things."

What does Kelly think those things are?

"About not finishing when you have an opponent in a position to put them away," he said. "But what we're doing on the sideline is feeling like the game's over. And I'm so angry about it that I've got to do something about it.

"I'm not doing a good enough job as a coach. And I've got to coach them better because it's unacceptable for us not to have found a way to win this football game. It's ridiculous."

Among its remaining schedule, LSU still has games against four teams currently ranked in the top 20 as well as road trips to South Carolina and Arkansas.
