During a questions and answer sessions last week, Dan Mullen was asked about the possibility of getting Gator legend Tim Tebow back in Gainesville to work on his staff.
Mullen noted that he would love to have his former quarterback back in Gainesville, according to SEC Country. Of course, between what Tebow has going on with baseball (he's currently still playing minor league ball for the Mets organization), his duties on the SEC as an analyst, and his charitable work, joining a college football program in any capacity would be tough.
Still, Mullen is leaving the door open for Tebow.
“I talked to Timmy, and I’d love to get Timmy back in the program in whatever role he would want to come in. He’s got a lot of things going on. I talked to him the other day, ‘Hey, what are you doing?’ He’s like, ‘I’m taking batting practice.’ He was somewhere in California or Arizona. He’s got baseball going on."
Back in mid-January the Mets announced that Tebow would be one of nine players invited to their major league camp so he's keeping his dream of playing major league baseball alive for now.
Mullen was Tebow's mentor at while he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Florida from 2005-2008, winning BCS national titles in 2006 and 2008. Of course, Tebow brought home the Heisman in 2007 as well, so the two clearly made quite the tandem.
Whether Mullen eventually brings him in as an on-field staff member (his staff is currently full), or an off-the-field role is pure speculation at this point, but coach Tebow does have a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
