Dan Lanning responds to Texas A&M speculation (Texas A&M)

Dan Lanning has quickly built Oregon football into a national contender that looks, plays, and feels like an SEC program. In a lot of ways, that is the ultimate compliment.

So it should come as no surprise that when the head coaching job comes open at the SEC school with (arguably) the deepest pockets come open, the leader of the 9-1 is a name mentioned to it.

Lanning took the opportunity at his presser today to make his future crystal clear in regards to his name being connected to the Texas A&M job.

“I guess the reality here is one, my number and our program wouldn’t be a topic if we didn’t have something everyone else wanted."

"I think I've been really, really clear since day one, everything I want exists right here. I’m not going anywhere. There’s zero chance I would be coaching somewhere else. I've got unfinished business here.”

"A lot of coaches hang on to these moments and they don't do anything, or they don't say anything, one, because they don't want egg on their face when they decide to do something else. Two, they're concerned about things that I'm not concerned about like getting a better contract."

That seems as definitive as anything, but it certainly won't be the last time Lanning is asked about it.

For coaches out there looking for a way to address rumors emphatically, Lanning shows the way.
