Lee Hays has been a staple at various levels of coaching throughout Texas over the last few decades.
The former Baylor and Texas Tech assistant spent the past eight seasons as a high school assistant at Lubbock Cooper HS (TX) and has just been tabbed to lead a program of his own.
Sul Ross State (D-II - TX) has announced the veteran college assistant and coordinator as their new head coach.
As an offensive coordinator at the Division II and FCS levels, Hays has led offenses that have led the country in passing, captured conference titles, and helped teams record their best seasons in school history.
He became the offensive coordinator at Baylor in 2006, and would go on to coach offensive lines at both Houston and Texas Tech as well.
During the past eight seasons at Lubbock-Cooper HS he was the offensive line coach and assistant offensive coordinator, where he helped the program to their most wins in school history over the past four seasons as well.
Hays takes the place of Barry Derickson, who resigned last fall.
