Butch Jones was the third of four SEC coaches that took the podium for SEC Media Day today. Dan Mullen and Kirby Smart went earlier today.
Jones spent his time talking about the one second rule he has in his program, the new off season additions to the Vols staff and how they're fitting in, the Battle at Bristol game on tap for later this year, wished his mother a happy 79th birthday, and also took a light jab at the media's ability to pick the SEC champ.
Before heading on stage, Jones interrupted Kevin Sumlin to give him a hard time about taking the ride that had air conditioning from the airport. Since the two arrived at nearly the same time, Jones and his crew got caught in the one without air conditioning.
Sumlin's response was pretty funny.
As for the headline quote of "Leaders Eat Last," Butch Jones is known to take leadership motivational books and material like The Energy Bus and incorporate them into the lessons he instills in his team, and Leaders Eat Last, a book by Simon Sinek is the latest example of that and you can see how he used the three words below. Here is a link about Sinek talking about that philosophy. See a full run down of Jones' time at the podium below.
