On Wednesday night Virginia Tech trailed Miami in an ACC Tournament second round game by one point with just more than 10 minutes remaining. The Hokies' only chance at extending their season was by beating the Hurricanes. Tense situation, right?
Not for Virginia Tech head coach Buzz Williams.
During the timeout the arena crew held one of those make-some-free-throws-win-500-bucks contests that every arena in the country runs and the girl on Virginia Tech's side wouldn't stop missing. She was 0-for-3.
So Williams left his own huddle to coach her.
“There’s nothing I’m going to say in the huddle that they haven’t heard me say. It’s just saying the same stuff, over and over," Williams told Yahoo Sports.
“I want to have fun,” he said. “You guys think I sweat and I don’t have fun – I’m having the time of my life."
Virginia Tech lost the game, 59-49.
