Another well-known former college head coach is joining Spurrier in the Alliance of American Football League, per report (UCLA)

First it was Steve Spurrier, as news broke over the weekend that the Head Ball Coach was making his comeback as a head coach in the newly formed Alliance of American Football with an Orlando-based team.

This morning, Alex Marvez shared news that another well known name and former college head coach would be making a comeback as well as Rick Neuheisel will be leading a southern California based team in the league. An exact location for the team is yet to be named.

Neuheisel, who most recently coached at UCLA where he went 21-29 from 2008-2011, has also led college football programs at Washington (where he went 33-16) and Colorado (where he went 33-14). He also spent a few seasons in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens as quarterbacks coach (2005-2006) and offensive coordinator (2007).

After his dismissal at UCLA, Neuheisel joined the CBS Sports Network as a guest analyst for the Inside College Football Show and has also spent some time putting together songs and singing them on air for college football since his departure from coaching.

It's worth noting that Rick's son, Jerry (a former UCLA quarterback), recently joined the coaching ranks and spent last season at Texas A&M before joining the UCLA staff back in January as a graduate assistant.

As the news becomes official with an announcement from the league, the Alliance of American Football is surely sending a message that they're serious about this venture, and some coaches that are hungry to get back into the game are taking notice. How it fares beyond that, and whether people will be interested in watching it, is still up for debate.

It's going to be really interesting to see how this new league shakes out.
